Fuses, Breakers & Arresters

Fuses, circuit breakers, and surge arresters are electrical protection devices. Fuses are used to protect circuits from overcurrent by "blowing" or opening the circuit if the current exceeds a certain level. Circuit breakers do the same job but can be reset by turning them off and then back on. Surge arresters, also known as surge protectors, are used to protect circuits and equipment from over-voltage and voltage transients. They work by diverting excess voltage away from the circuit or equipment, protecting it from damage.
