Is it normal for the Multi-Cooker to make noise and to have steam coming out of the bobble valve in the handle?

Please rest assure it is normal for the steam to come out of the bobble valve/hole in the handle. Whilst holding the pressure correctly it still needs to release a bit throughout the process.

How do I know it is safe to open the lid?

The Sunbeam Multi-Cooker has been designed with safety in mind and has various switch off safety measures. Pressure will not build if the lid is not shut correctly and has not sealed. At the end of cooking the lid cannot be unlocked until all the pressure is released. This can be done using the natural release or quick release methods listed below.

Can you use metal utensils?

No, it is recommended to use silicone utensils when stirring, scooping your food. Metal utensils will scratch and damage the non-stick coating of the inner pot.
