TV Buying Guide: Things you need to know

When it comes to buying a new TV, there are a few things you need to keep in mind.

    1. First and foremost is the size of the TV. How big is your living room or den? You don't want to end up with a TV that's too big or too small for the space. So measure your space and make sure the dimensions you need to work within.

    2. While the resolution of modern televisions help reduce the risk of eye strain there is a general rule of thumb is the distance sitting from the TV should be 1.4 times the width of the television. For instance at 2.5m you could look at a 65inch TV.

    3. There are three different resolutions that are common today. Full HD, 4K, and most recently 8K. In our opinion there is a massive gap between a full HD and 4K in terms of quality but not so much in price. Therefore buying a 4k television is better value.

    4. The old saying, "You get what you pay for" still applies to an extent but with the advances in technology you can still get a a great TV for a reasonable price.

    5. TVs range in price from a few hundred dollars to several thousand dollars. Still, decide how much you're willing to spend and then shop around for the best deal.

    6. Another important feature is the refresh rate. Refresh rate is the number of times per second that the screen refreshes. A higher refresh rate results in a smoother image, especially when you're watching fast-paced action scenes. Most TVs have a refresh rate of 60Hz, but some higher-end models offer 120Hz or even 240Hz. If you watch a lot of action movies, or you’re a keen gamer, the best TV to buy is going to be the one that offers the smoothest refresh rate.

    7. When buying na new television one additional piece of equipment is worth considering - a soundbar.  With Televisions getting thinner the in-built audio can be compromised. With a soundbar the entertainment experience will be much improved.

When you're shopping for a new TV, keep these factors in mind and you'll be sure to find the perfect model to suit your needs.
