Cut a striking silhouette

Combining mid-century design with aniline leather and oak the Steiner cuts a striking silhouette of natural materials. With 120g of ethically sourced duck feathers per seat cushion the Steiner offers a quality feel with just the right amount of support.

The Leather

Upholstered in full-aniline leather, Steiner's leather will take on a patina that gets better and better with age. The top layer is full-grain hide that contains unique natural variations in tone. Full-grain leather has unique markings that are as individual as your fingerprints. Markings can include insect bites, wrinkles, sun spots, and stretch marks that were developed over the course of that animal’s life. Through age and use, this leather will develop a warm sheen known as “patina”. It’s that patina that gives an armchair that comforting, vintage look.

This leather patinas quickly, giving it a beautifully unique finish — but always be aware that every hide, and therefore every armchair, is totally unique, and therefore will look different than the product photo. We recommend Steiner to pet parents or young families. Since it is already perfectly imperfect, any additional scratches from claws, paws, or fingernails simply add to its character.

Because leather is a natural product, it needs little or no care during normal usage. The following maintenance tips will help keep your leather looking new for years to come.

Regular Care: Keep it clean. Dust and vacuum often, using a crevice tool in seams. For weekly dusting, use a clean, soft, dust free cloth slightly dampened with distilled water and wipe area gently.

Avoid direct exposure to sunlight. Although leather is resistant to fading, direct prolonged exposure to the sun will cause any material to fade.

Keep leather furniture away from heat sources.

Cleaning: As with any spill it is imperative to clean up quickly to minimise damage. Just as any upholstery, leather can become stained if spills are not cleaned up immediately. Blot a spill, do not rub. If necessary, use clear, lukewarm water and gently wipe the spill. Dry with a clean towel and allow to air dry.

For aniline leathers it is recommended to use a mixture of 1/2 mild soap and 1/2 distilled water on a slightly dampened cloth or sponge, working up a foam to clean. It is important to remember to avoid excessive rubbing with a cloth. Blot any remaining soap residue with a clean cloth dampened only with clear distilled water. Blot until dry, repeating as necessary. For more difficult stains, contact a professional leather cleaning company.

Scratching: Leather is by far the most durable upholstery material available and extremely difficult to scratch. However, should the leather become scratched or scuffed by a sharp object, it can be easily repaired. A felt tip pen of a close colour is usually sufficient to disguise the mark.
